School leavers should take a gap year before entering university

Views concerning a gap year differ widely among people. Some people consider it unacceptable. Others are in favour of it before studying at university.

In my opinion, school leavers should take a gap year before entering university. Firstly, it gives them relaxation after tough school days and exams. A gap year lets people fresh their mind, spot their interests or take up a new hobby. Thus this year respite helps to study better at university in future. Secondly, a gap year gives people an incredible opportunity to travel abroad. Exploring new places broadens ones mind and improves level of foreign language. Getting such an experience makes people more self-confident that is so important in life and studying.

However, some people believe that school leavers should enter university directly from finishing school.

They claim that than earlier they graduate from university than faster they start their professional career.

Nevertheless, I do not agree with the above-given idea. I suppose that not only the presence of diploma but also personal qualities are essential in getting the job. A gap year can prepare future employees for such difficulties in life that university cannot. For example, during a gap year most of the people become independent from parents. They may start earning money by their own, so they learn how to be disciplined and conscious. The ability to cope with all problems in life and be enterprising attract employers greatly, so even those who had a gap year will get the job easily and quickly.

In conclusion, tastes differ, but I think that students should take a gap year because it enriches their perception of the world.
